1997 Honda Blackbird CBR100XX
Hell-bent on producing the world’s fastest production motorcycle, Honda accomplished that feat with the Blackbird, taking the title from Kawasaki’s ZX-11. Top-speed tested at 178mph. The title didn’t last long as Suzuki soon after released the Hayabusa with a top-speed of 194mph. The Blackbird, fittingly named after Lockheed’s SR-71, was produced from 1997-2006 but distribution to the U.S ceased in 2003. In 1999 Honda converted the 1100XX to fuel-injection making the carbureted models some-what of a rare breed ('97 and ‘98).
This particular model has an ultra low production number **000043. The bike has 13,138 miles on it and is in great shape. Other than the aftermarket exhaust, the bike appears to be in stock form. It runs and rides great. This is a bike that is sure to be a future classic.
